Powdered Wood Filler: Mixing Instructions
Mixing
Mix approximately 3/4 of a bag of powdered filler with 2 quarts of water in a 3 1/2-gallon pail (a drill motor and mixing paddle work well for this). Mix thoroughly. You can adjust to the desired consistency by adding more powdered filler and/or water. A 14-lb bag makes up to 1.7 gallons of product.
Using the Product
Prior to final sand, remove all dust, oil and wax. Always test on small area before using, to ensure color match, etc.
When using as a Wood Patch or Spot Filler, use a putty knife to force the product into the crack, knot hole, etc. Make sure to fill the area from the bottom up. For larger areas you may need to fill in layers, letting the product dry between applications, building product slightly higher than surrounding wood before sanding.
When using as a Full-Trowel Filler, apply in-between sanding, pouring a puddle on the floor, then using a smooth-edge trowel work back and forth at different angles, making sure the cracks are filled from the bottom up. Be sure to remove as much as possible off of the surface of the wood. If cracks are particularly wide, it may be necessary to repeat the above process to make sure the cracks are full. It is imperative that the filler be sanded. We recommend the floor be troweled just before the final sanding.
Do not bleach.
Always wear a properly-fitted (NIOSH/MSHA) dust mask when sanding and mixing.
